Prince Carl Philip married Sofia Hellqvist in a gorgeous wedding at the Royal Palace of Stockholm in Sweden on June 13, and now the couple is enjoying a romantic honeymoon on a private island in Fiji. According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, the royal duo jetted out of Stockholm shortly after their wedding reception ended. And instead of doubling up on security, Carl and Sofia reportedly flew business class on a regular flight with a stopover in Europe. After landing in LA, they were then escorted to private aircrafts that take guests to the small islands.
But while the newlyweds are currently taking full advantage of the sunshine, they won't be away from home for too long. The pair have made sure to plan a short and sweet getaway due to the prince's busy racing schedule. Carl, who has raced in the Scandinavia Touring Car Championship since 2013, will take part in a twilight event at Mantorp Park in Sweden on June 25. "The honeymoon will last just 12 days – from the 13th to the 25th – when Carl Philip will drive a race," Johanna Lejon, royals reporter at Svensk Damtidning, told People magazine.
The couple will also meet their new nephew for the first time when they return to Sweden. Carl's younger sister, Princess Madeleine, welcomed her son, HRH Prince Nicolas Paul Gustaf, Duke of Angermanland, just two days after the royal wedding.
