Princess Charlotte is only 1 month old, but time is already flying! Kensington Palace released a statement to People magazine on Friday about the little royal's first major event: her christening. Charlotte's ceremony will take place on July 5 at St. Mary Magdalene's Church on Queen Elizabeth II's Sandringham estate. The Archbishop of Canterbury, who baptized Prince George in October 2013, will also conduct the ceremony. And while every christening is a special event in its own right, Charlotte's holds even more meaning because it will be held at the same church where her late grandmother, Princess Diana, was baptized. The heartwarming tribute comes just a few weeks after it was revealed that Charlotte's name had a special connection to Diana and her brother, Charles Spencer.
While the world will have to wait for the big day to see specific details, People does reveal that, like her older brother, George, Charlotte is expected to wear the same traditional christening gown designed by the queen's assistant, Angela Kelly, and Buckingham Palace's team of dressmakers. The dress is a replica of one commissioned by Queen Victoria in the 19th century. The royals will also take the famous silver-gilt Lily Font, which has been used in almost every royal baptism, with them for the service. And if you can't wait until July 5 for more royal madness, relive Charlotte's first public appearance in GIFs, then check out 14 life lessons that George could teach his little sister.
