The leader of the Catholic Church first arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Tuesday, and Malia and Sasha Obama joined their parents for the special welcome. Kicking off his six-day trip in Washington DC, the pope spoke during an arrival ceremony on the South Lawn on Wednesday morning, later parading past thousands of people in an open-sided Popemobile.
