Liam Hemsworth has nothing but kind words for ex Miley Cyrus. In an interview with Men's Fitness, the actor was asked whether it feels like he "dodged a bullet" since he and Miley have such different lives and different approaches to celebrity. "You fall in love with who you fall in love with; you can never choose," Liam said, laughing as he added, "I guess some people just come with a little more baggage."
The pair were first linked while they were filming The Last Song in 2009, Liam proposed to Miley in May 2012, and they confirmed that they called off their engagement in September 2013. Of the relationship, Liam told Men's Fitness, "We were together five years, so I don't think those feelings will ever change. And that's good because that proves to me that it was real. It wasn't just a fling. It really was an important part of my life and always will be." And as for his thoughts on Miley? "She's a free spirit," he said. "I think she'll always surprise people with what she does, but she's not a malicious person in any way. She's a young girl who wants to do what she wants to do."
