Read the article with interest. I used to work with horses for 20 years and have had several of my own for 35 years. I am sure by now that horses have kept my weight down and flexibility good! Looking after the horse gives you a work out daily whether you want it or not, plenty of lifting and carrying but I need to remind myself about good posture and safe lifting too. I’d be rubbish at ‘taking excercise’ but with horses it’s part of your life , it’s outdoors and a good mental tonic and most of the time it’s enjoyable. I would say be careful about repeatative lifting, 3 horsey people I know suffer with painful elbows, like tennis elbow, and protect your hands and feet! Riding and keeping a horse can be expensive, but there are many options like sharing a horse or helping care for someone’s horse in return for a ride, be a good rider and someone may even want to pay you!
