AMD ready for burning in 20 nm from 2015

AMD finally start to burn in 20 nm in 2015 ... In a conference call after the earnings announcement, the chip maker said last week it would take the manufacturing process of TSMC 20 nm and produce their chips early next year.

According to X-bit Labs, whose article was viewed by Next Inpact, this late arrival 28nm etching bottom usually followed is an option taken by AMD. This does not, said Lisa Su, COO of AMD, is an important step for casting:

"The 20 nm is an important step for us. Our products sell 20nm next year. (...) If you look at our business, it is still quite balanced between the chip to semi-professional custom graphics and embedded parts and more traditional. 20nm plays an important role in all these activities. "

If 20 nm is not really the norm in the middle, AMD is not listed race winner. Intel recalls Next Inpact and is 22 nm - 28 nm compared mainly for AMD - per month and must change quickly to 14 nm. That said, AMD is just behind TSMC and Global Foundries or NVIDIA, whose plans are expected.
